Revolutionizing Pediatric Surgery with Robotics: Dr.GeetaKekre, a Consultant Paediatric Surgeon at Ruby Hall Clinic, highlighted the remarkable advantages of employing robotic technology in this delicate procedure. The robot’s articulated instruments, equipped with tremor filters and wrist-like movements, played a pivotal role in the precision needed to reconstruct the junction of the kidney and the ureter. The use of robotics proved to be a game-changer, especially in the confined space of the infant’s tiny abdomen. 

A Lifesaving Operation for Ureteropelvic Junction Obstruction: The infant, born with Ureteropelvic Junction Obstruction, faced a critical condition where the normal flow of urine out of the kidney was obstructed. This condition posed a severe threat to the renal function of the newborn. Traditional methods for surgery would have been challenging due to the infant’s age and the complexities of the condition. However, robotic surgery offered a groundbreaking solution, enabling the medical team to perform the operation through three tiny sub-centimeter incisions.
